Extended Family

One of the greatest joys I have as a mother is seeing my kids interact with the people who meant the most to me growing up. Somehow they seem to realize that this is a special person and a special relationship. One of my closest friends (for 25 years now) Rachel is just one example. The kids love her and always hang all over her when she's here.. it makes my heart happy.

Ro-day-oh

Well, I may never make it back to blogging multiple times a week again, but I am going to try to get back to doing it more often than once every 5 weeks ;-) Anyhoo, two weeks ago we packed up the kiddos and Memaw and headed off to Rodeo Houston. Lizzie rode a pony for the first time....

and LOVED it! She has started doing this thing where when she really enjoys something, she will sometimes try to suppress her smile so that you won't know how much she loves it. I don't think she has any idea how obvious it is when she is doing this.. but I'll cut her some slack since she comes by it honestly ;-)

She would be beaming the whole way around until she got to the place where I had the camera up. Then she'd try to stuff it down... silly girl~

Our new youth pastor is not a native Texan, so we decided to indoctrinate his wife and baby girl into our rodeo fan club-

Lizzie checking out the ginormous bunny rabbit....

She was SO into the guinea pigs...

Sweet Della was a trooper even with no real nap all day...

Micah had a lot of fun in the petting zoo, as long as the animals were the size of this goat or smaller. If a bigger one approached him it was NOT COOL!

Country style hand washing station...

Sweet baby Jane...

Lizzie once again not wanting to admit that she was having fun...

Petting a sheep with Memaw...

I just love Della's face here...

Um, yup... that's Lizzie.

I think these were the closest seats we'd ever had.. we were definitely right in the action!

Lizzie's Party

To be completely honest, when I found out Lizzie was a girl I was 99% excited and 1% completely terrified. I am not a girly girl and I began to wonder if I would be able to do the girly things well. It turns out, it's actually REALLY fun to be girly. I may still need to call in back-up when the girls want to know how to apply make up, but I've got the toddler girly thing down. That's why it was SO MUCH FUN to put together a dress up party for Lizzie's 3rd birthday!

Of course her 3 needed to get dressed up too...

Some of our accessories...

Oh Pinterest, I can't decide if I love you or I hate you for getting me into projects like this one...

I am mildly obsessed with these pinwheels...

Miss Maddy Moo was rocking the fire chief helmet...

Two of Lizzie's sweet friends from church...

I'm not sure what Janie is trying to communicate to GG here...

Jemma, the rock star princess personified....

Mazie tried on the most outfits of any of the girls and she definitely knew what she liked!

This sweet girl is very reserved. I've been trying to get her to warm up to me since she was born with very rare success. After the party on Saturday I saw her at church twice... the first time she beamed at me and the second time she waved excitedly and yelled "HI!!". I guess I found the way to Anna's heart :)

Janie was King Konging it on the kiddie table...

The word that comes to mind when I think of Molly is irrepressible, she's so much fun..

Lizzie is about two rings into a serious ring addiction here...

Princesses playing with our mini magnetic dress-up girls...

Lizzie is getting her cool on....

Hey there good lookin....

Lizzie was pretty darn cute interacting with her best friend, Julianne...

Balloons!

My cake only girl shifted to an icing only girl for one day only...

I love the Little Red Riding Hood meets Moulin Rouge look here...

Lunch time!

Birthday parties can really tire a girl out....

The other girl too :)
