Rodeo Houston

We love the rodeo in our family. No really, we LOVE it. So much so that we have never missed a year since we got here (including when Lizzie was just a month old :). Every single one of my kids has been carried around the rodeo in a baby carrier and every one of them has nursed on the second floor of the exhibition center. As could be expected, Jane wasn't really aware of her surroundings but she was more than happy to be carried around all day!

Lizzie was adorable all day~

We are raising our kids right, with an appreciation for mutton bustin'~

Micah really got into the Mutton Bustin' and was jumping around and cheering loudly for each rider. Lizzie also got into the excitement that naturally comes when you strap a kindergartner to a large sheep :) The kiddos also liked this remote control truck race track~

Fun on the Farm! The kiddos made friends with the chickens~

Micah planting and harvesting his pepper~

Um yeah, Lizzie made a major scene when she had to "sell" her egg at the Farmer's Market at the end of the exhibit....

The corn sandbox was new this year and at first Lizzie stayed on the outside of it picking up individual kernels and putting them back in the box. Once we finally convinced her to get in she had a great time and it was really tough to get her to come back out!

If we lived in the country, he'd be driving this thing for real by now ;-)

When do they stop making the "cheese" face? Oh well, it's still cute~

Lizzie was talking to the chicks... she really is the perfect height for this display~

Taking a very needed moment to rest~

Micah did this huge carnival playground all on his own (we weren't allowed in with him). It included a two story suspended bridge that would have scared me. He was freaked and it took awhile, but he did it and was so proud of himself!

Micah is a big fan of rides!

My mom found herself a new family with very different (and questionable) values~

Both of my kids are pretty brave... the height of this didn't freak them out!

Lizzie is loving round two of Mutton Bustin'~

Now THAT is some good form :)

This is for my dad... waiting for the Rodeo to start and munching on kettle corn~

A Bit Behind

So I have been stalling on this post since it took more time than I had to go through all of the pictures for it :) Anyway, my brother's family came into town in February to celebrate my birthday, Lizzie's birthday and my brother's birthday. One of the days that they were here, we took all of the kids to the zoo.

Ah yes, and did I mention that Evan broke two bones in his arm within (I kid you not) three minutes of getting to Katy? Fun stuff. Anyhoo, here is Amy with Asher who was being adorable the whole day~

Lizzie was carried about 98% of the day... good thing she and Pa are buddies!

I'm jealous of this pic... I wish I had one as good with me and Lizzie :)

Cousins!

Elena tried to help Micah find his smile~

Brothers~

Pa had some mad skills to hold onto Lizzie while taking pictures.. it was quite the feat!

Adorable Asher, part 2~

The boys inside the wigwam~

Feeding the giraffes is Micah's favorite thing at the zoo now~

Lizzie is starting to get into it too~

Jane wasn't too sure she trusted whatever Nate was telling her here~

Carousel!!

Unsteady bridges aren't really Lizzie's type of thing....

Just chillin'

Pretty girl~

We had a great day and we can't wait until we get the cousins together again in April!

Back in the saddle

After taking about 8 weeks of maternity leave, I dusted off my sewing machine and started in on my project list again. First off, sewing a new liner for Micah's Easter basket. I love his old liner, but I knew when I bought his basket that I'd have to sew him a new one when he crossed the line from toddler to little boy. So here is his (very cute but very babyish) old liner~

And here is his new basket~

I'm happy with how it turned out!

I think this fabrics will last him for many years to come :) Now I just need to get Micah to understand that seeing his basket does NOT mean that Easter is tomorrow :P

Two Month Stats

Weight~ 10lb 4.5oz (33rd percentile)
Head Size~ 15in (31st percentile)
Height~ 23.75in (92nd percentile)... what the what??? They measured her twice and it's accurate. Well, you know with Nate and myself having such statuesque figures, it was only a matter of time before one of our kids followed suit ;-)

Buddies

It tends to be feast or famine with these two, so when they're feasting you better grab the camera FAST!

Luckily the feasts have become a lot more frequent recently :)

About 30 seconds after this picture, however, Lizzie got all hugged out and started yelling to be let go. I don't remember her smacking him though, so I consider the whole thing a victory~
