An Eventful Weekend

My uncle, whom I pretty much never see, came in town this past weekend to visit the whole family. We had a great time! We spent a lot of time at my parent's house and Lizzie got to taste everything around her ~

There was A LOT of Mario Kart played. My Dad is thrilled here that his brother is making him look good :)

On Saturday, we went to Washington on the Brazos State Park. We visited the farm and museum there and it is really beautiful! I enjoyed driving around that area and Micah loved looking out the window at the cows and scenery passing by. Lizzie had a different kind of cow that she was fixated on~

The farm was such a cool experience except that it was H-O-T... I'm just glad it wasn't August. Lizzie had a great time~

Oops, let me try that again... Lizzie had a great time ~

Ahhhh, much better :) Now for those of you wondering why I have had zero pictures of Micah recently, I have a great reason.... Micah is what you might call a moving target right now..... constantly moving..... perpetual motion machine. Anyhoo, pictures are not as easy as they once were. When I do catch him, it's usually on my iphone and zoomed way in til it's grainy ~

As you can see, Micah has some big shoes to fill :) Anyhoo, as soon as I can get some of the pics my uncle and dad took this weekend, I can remind you what his face looks like.

Sorry!

Ok, so I have been having a major problem with the comment section of my blog. After a post has been up for a day or so, I will get a random comment in all Chinese characters with links in it (do NOT click the links... just a little rule of thumb for ya there :). It is annoying the HECK out of me! I know you're thinking, "but I've never seen those posts on here..." yeah, that's because I troll for those comments religiously and delete them with the same speed and ferocity usually reserved for bugs I find in my house. ANYHOO.... all this to say, that now to comment on my blog, you have to sign in. I'm sorry for those who this bothers, but I am hoping it will get ride of my Asian stalker :P If it doesn't work, then I'll go back to my old ways.

p.s.- All you need to show me some love is a google account :)

Lounger Beware

You have to be careful where you put your feet around here...

You never know what predators might be around. Luckily, this one has no teeth...

Better Late Than Never

In a very un-Abby ish move, my blog failed to cover a very important event last week... my mom's birthday! I didn't forget about it, but I was out of town... that's my official excuse :P

If you don't know my mom, she is pretty much the coolest. She is the perfect blend of fun, laid back, organized and dorky :) I can say that cause we do dorky together :) I love my mom and definitely consider her to be my best friend. I hope that I can be half the mother that she is and that someday Lizzie and I will have a similar relationship when she gets older... Happy Birthday Mom! I love you!!

Big Girls Sometimes Cry

Yesterday was Elizabeth's 4 month appointment and she is a big, healthy, beautiful baby :) Unfortunately, she doesn't handle her shots with the same grace as her older brother... I finally get why some people feel really guilty about their babies getting shots... it's terrible! Anyhoo, after many tears, she finally calmed down and was able to take a nap. Now for the stats~

Head Circumference ~ 16.5" - 50th-75th percentile
Weight~ 14lb 12oz - 75th-90th percentile
Height~ 25.75" - 90th-95th percentile

Just for funsies, let's compare shall we? At 4 months Micah was 12lb 6oz (15th percentile) and 25 inches long (50th percentile). Can you say night and day? Well, we love our toothpick and our big girl and it just goes to show you how different sibs can be!

Why am I not freaking out?

My sis-in-law is getting married this weekend (congrats, Ray!) and Nate and I are heading out on Tuesday night to join in the festivities. That's right, I said Tuesday NIGHT. In discussing how best to handle a 10-11 hour drive with a toddler and an infant, we decided to overnight it. What.am.I.doing?? This is one of those things where if it goes right then we're geniuses and if it goes wrong... well, let's not talk about it going wrong, mmmkay?

In thinking about this trip I have been really excited. I mean, I am excited about Ray's wedding for sure, but I have been freakishly excited about the drive. In exploring why on earth I was excited about driving all night I came to one conclusion.... I'm not excited, I'm just anxious to get it over with :P I realized that I'm fine with the drive unless I think about what could go wrong. If I think about the possibilities, my stomach starts to do weird things, I get hot all over, start to itch and my palms sweat... HA! Great way to start, right? Anyhoo, if you think about us, send up a prayer for safe travel and super sleepy kiddos :)

4 Months Old

As of today, our beautiful baby girl is 4 months old! It is difficult for me to fully describe all of the ways that she has changed our lives and the way that she has enhanced our family. She brings me incredible joy and I find that I love her more than I ever thought possible. It is interesting to discover how in parenthood you can love your kids both completely, but you still love them differently. Anyhoo, here are a few things about Elizabeth as a 4 month old.

~ Lizzie is a total ray of sunshine. She is happy and fairly easy going. She is quick to smile and slow to fuss.

~ She continues to be talkative, responding back to people who talk to her with cooing and a whole arsenal of amazingly cute and sweet baby sounds.

~ She is very interested in mobility and has started doing a sort of crawl that although really slow, has managed to get her about two feet forward..... it scares the mess outta me! I'm not ready for a crawler!

~ Lizzie knows what's up. I swear, when she's looking at you it's like she understands everything that is going on.... apparently I was this way as a baby too :)

~ She has discovered her feet! Now any time she is on her back, she grasps firmly onto those feet just in case they make any efforts to escape ;-)

~ Weird, but she sleeps with her little booty sticking straight up into the air... not sure how that is comfortable, but both she and Micah do it, so it must be genetic.

We love you, Lizzie girl!

It Starts Early

I have been SO blessed in the friends that God has brought into my life in Katy. I have had a consistent playgroup full of girls with kiddos that are all within 3 months of Micah's age. It is really fun to watch the kiddos grow and learn and just see how they change. One thing that playgroup has made glaringly clear is the difference between boys and girls. Let's just say, it starts early :)

The girls in our group are all three months older than Micah, so they have a head start, but also.. they're girls. Last week during swimming, the girls were speaking in complete sentences and asking their moms questions or making observations. I was astounded. Courtney (the only other one there last week with a boy) looked at me and we both had our jaws to the floor. We started laughing as Micah and Carter added their 2 cents to the conversation.. "Airplane!!! Ooooo!" and "FEE, FEE!!" (fish, fish!) At least boys are less complicated :)

That's Hot

I heart Chick-fil-a, have I mentioned that before? Well, I do :) I love their food, the way that they run their restaurants, how kid friendly they make it, and now.... I LOVE their new spicy chicken sandwich! Two days ago, Nate and I got a free preview of the spicy chicken sandwich.... yummmmmmmmy!!! Oh, and did I mention that it was free? Did I mention they also threw in free fries and drinks, which were not a part of the deal? Anyhoo, they do this to get the word out and IT WORKED! I highly recommend the spicy chicken... so delicious.

Oh, and the location we went to has a balloon animal chick, a face painter and some poor teenager in the big Chick-fil-a cow costume on Wednesdays and, of course, it's all free! Micah had a blast giving the cow high fives and waving to it... he loves big furry mascots. Good thing for Disney! I think we'll be going there more as a fam between now and January to acclimate Lizzie to big furry mascots too... good times :)

Child's Play

Although a little 2 yr old gremlin often takes over his body, Micah is still essentially a really sweet little dude. He is always finding Lizzie's paci and putting it in her mouth and he loves to share with her. His food, his toys.....

Luckily Elizabeth is fairly laid back about it...

Micah is VERY proud of his generosity :)

and you know what they say, when life gives you lemons...

...make them into a snack.

or something like that :)
