Our Little Blueberry
I had my first doctor's appt. today and had an ultrasound to confirm the due date and make sure everything is going well. I got to hear the heartbeat (very strong.. way to go blue!) and see that baby is measuring right on schedule!
Looking very blueberryish in this picture too :) We are, of course, now calling the baby "blueberry" and likely will for the rest of it's life :P Although, if it ends up being a girl, I think we'll pay homage to amazing frozen yogurt and call her pinkberry ;-)

7 weeks
Today marks the official beginning of my 7th week of pregnancy! I'm not taking belly pics yet cause there just isn't anything to see :P I haven't been feeling too hot so far (I couldn't make it to church yesterday due to nausea and just being stinkin exhausted) Everyone wants a comparison to last time and I'm afraid I don't know yet.... I'm definitely sick earlier in the pregnancy than I was last time. Anyhoo.... the baby :)
What is happening with your baby? At this point every essential organ has begun to form in the embryo's tiny body. The hair follicles are forming, and the eyelids and tongue have begun formation. The elbows and toes are more visible as the trunk begins to straighten out.
The baby is currently the size of a blueberry.... I love that I'm back to the food comparisons for how big my kid is....they just don't do that when you go to the pediatrician :P ("Your child is currently the size of an average wheel of cheese....."

My New Wheels
Upon the discovery of Baby E #2's arrival in February, Nate and I started looking for a new car for me. I've been using my Nissan Altima with Micah and while it worked great, it would be too small for 2 kids. Wellllllllll, we found our car more quickly than expected and I am now the VERY proud driver of a 2007 Honda Odyssey!!! For those of you who don't know this about me, I LOVE minivans and have been itching to get one since we found out about Micah. Weird... I know. But this is the nicest, roomiest, smoothest car I have ever had and I am SO excited about it! It has tons of crazy storage compartments, the back seats fold flat into the floor and it has a removable 8th seat in the middle row.... road trip anyone? The best part? SLIDING DOORS! If you don't get why this is the best part, then you have never tried to wrestle your kid into their car seat when someone has parked too close to your car :P

Some People Never Grow Up....
Young Nathan Jr (Nate :) convinced me to stop by Memorial City Mall on our way back in from Fort Worth to pick up my new iphone. Micah was doing well and I figured it would be a good chance to get it taken care of so that I wouldn't have to worry about it later this week. We called ahead and they told us that they had them in stock and it should only take about 20 minutes to drop in and pick one up..... sold!
Well.... things weren't quite that.... um.... expedient by the time we got there :P There was a line out in front of the store of people waiting to be helped with their iphone purchase. Luckily, when we got there, we were only behind 4 other people... should go quickly, right?? Um, yeah...not so much. They took in an average of one customer every 20 minutes! The best part is that I never saw anyone come back out, so they were in there FOREVER being sold accessories and getting demos. By the time I realized how long it was going to take, I was committed so I just hung in there. Turns out when all you want to do is buy the phone, it only takes about 7 minutes!
Anyhoo, the whole point of this post is to tell you about the guy that was three people behind me in line. After an hour of waiting (he got there soon after me), the man pulls out his last generation iphone and places a call to AT&T... turns out he had ordered a new iphone online, but when he saw that they had them at the Apple store, he HAD to have it right now. He called AT&T and was trying to cancel his order which had already shipped and was due to his house the next day. Turns out he couldn't (of course) so he told his wife that he would just refuse the shipment when it came and proceeded to wait another 30 minutes (that I know of) and based on the pattern, likely 40 more minutes after that just to get the new version of his same phone one day earlier. THIS WAS A 40-SOMETHING YEAR OLD MAN!! I couldn't believe it. I don't think he could stand the thought that other people were buying it before him... craziness. I had some serious doubts about whether or not I wanted to join the ranks of these crazies, but I hung in there... pretty phone..... my precious :P

11 Months!
That's right folks.... one short month before Micah turns 1!! What can I say about Goobs this month.... he is so much fun!! He is such a sweet kid and loves to get into everything and go adventuring. As for milestones, he is taking individual steps (reference yesterday's post), he stands up in the middle of the room without holding onto anything, he seems to be learning and respecting the boundaries a little more :P, and he watches baseball ;-) We love you Bubs!!

One Small Step for Man
Micah is taking steps!! And by steps, I mean that he takes one and then sits down :P Yesterday he took two and then he was down... hey, it's a start! I predict he'll be walking by his birthday... we'll see!!

Sweetness
My Dad sent this to me yesterday and it's pretty stinkin awesome :) If you've ever done stop motion animation, then you'll really appreciate this. It's a tiny bit on the long side, but it's worth it for the coolest wedding invite ever :)

Week 1
OH MY GOSH.... the dancers this year are SO good!! I've never done this before, but I voted for 6 different couples after the opening episode of So You Think You Can Dance yesterday. I simply couldn't narrow it down past my top 6. And can I just say, I am SO excited about Evan and Randi! They were absolutely beautiful! And Kayla seriously got her ballroom on. Anyways, I'm definitely curious to see who doesn't move on tonight and even more curious to see how the top 10 shake out this year.
Dad- I have it on my DVR.... if you are interested :)

Country Road...
....take me home, to the place that Nate belongs.... Southeastern Kansas, pretty hilly. Take us home, country road :P
We're off to Kansas! We are going back for the annual carnival in Nate's home town and more so for Micah to see all of his Kansas peeps. I'll catch you guys on the flip side!
Oh, and for a little fun tidbit, I was looking at the TSA website to find out the rules on bringing baby food through security and in the paragraph talking about what items need to go through the x-ray machine, I saw this little gem~ "NEVER leave babies in an infant carrier while it goes through the X-ray machine." HA! Do you think someone has actually done that?! Geez, people are stupid :P

8th Grade Philosophers
I think I am going to have to grow a little bit of patience before this Thursday when Katy ISD officially lets out for the summer. It's just sooooooo annoying having kids and teens everywhere while you are trying to run errands. They have the tendency to run around stores, yell loudly, run into people and have all sorts of other annoying practices.
I got a sneak peek of this a couple of days ago when I went to Hobby Lobby at 5 pm.... yuck. I nearly got bowled over several times by cussing 12 year olds, was blocked off by large parties of teens camping in the main aisles, and had a very interesting check out experience :P Sometimes though, you find a little bit of wisdom in the younger generation and it makes it all worth it....
As I passed three (formerly) 8th grade girls, I caught a snippet of conversation that made my trip worth it. The ring leader of the group was speaking in a very intelligent introspective tone as she told them, "...See, it's weird because we're freshman but we're not officially freshman yet... it's like we're fish out of water..." Both of her girlfriends nodded seriously as though pondering the words of their deep friend. I, on the other hand, was trying desperately not to laugh. I have to give them credit though, they redeemed an entire generation to me.... even if it was based entirely on entertainment value :)

Well Rested Insomniac
Yup, that's me..... your friendly, neighborhood insomniac. I read while you sleep and keep an eye (and ear) out for local miscreants. There is no need to thank me... I can't fall asleep anyway :P Oddly, even though I was up last night until about 3 am, I feel really refreshed and rested this morning. I am not however immune to weaknesses (what good superhero doesn't have some weakness?). What is mine, you ask? I have the strong suspicion that the weakness might be 2 in the afternoon.. I'll keep you posted...
